10.3. GIS Book: Export and print a map

Once the mapping process is complete, a map can be printed or exported in various formats.

To print the map, go to File > Print menu, and configure the printer according to the features you have.

If you need the map to be in another digital format, it is exported from the File > Export Map menu. Select between EMF, EPS, AI, PDF, SVG, BMP, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and GIF formats. The resolution and additional parameters can be configured in each format.

In some cases, especially when special characters are available, a PDF file is not usually readable. We recommend using a PDF printer that is installed in the system.

Finally, you can see the result of the map prepared following the instructions in this document (Figure 59).
