The intersection allows you to search for the area of two or more overlapping layers. The Intersect tool calculates the intersection area in a new layer. To use the tool, go to:
ArcToolbox > Analysis Tools > Overlay > Intersect
The Intersect tool pop-up window opens. In the Input Features section, you can add all the layers that are going to be searched for intersection areas. An example of the result can be seen in Figure 33.
