[importexport] A technique for transferring data, usually over the Internet, in a real-time flow as opposed to storing it in a local file first. Streaming allows large multimedia files to be viewed before the entire file has been downloaded to a client’s computer. When received by the client (local computer) the data is uncompressed and displayed using software designed to interpret and display the data rapidly.
