[ESRI software] A process that connects to a relational database management system (RDBMS), using the RDBMS server libraries, and becomes the dedicated link for a GIS client to the database. A gsrvr process is only used in three-tiered geodatabase connections. The GIS client sends instructional commands to the gsrvr process on how to build appropriate SQL statements to perform the requested spatial action (pan, zoom, and so on).
