micropolitan statistical area

[government] A geographic region containing at least one urban area with a population between 10,000 and 50,000, defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget for use by federal statistical agencies, including the U.S. Census Bureau. Micropolitan statistical areas include adjacent communities having a high degree of economic and social integration with the core area.
