MODIS

[satellite imaging] Acronym for moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer. A bundle of remote-sensing equipment housed on two NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) satellites, Terra and Aqua, in orbit around Earth. These two MODIS-equipped satellites constantly record multiple images of the globe in various wavelengths and resolutions, imaging the earth’s entire surface in less than two days.
