Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) is an interesting method with many applications. GWR is different from other techniques because it allows the relationships between covariates to vary spatially. For some research questions, it is useful to use the GWR to see where they are more or less spatially variable.
In this example we are going to “increase” the resolution of a temperature raster from 1 km to 30 m. It is necessary to point out that the variables we are going to work with have a high correlation (R2 > 0.9), in this case altitude (predictive variable, with a resolution of 30 m) with temperature (dependent variable, with a resolution of 1 km) are inversely proportional.
SAGA’s GWR for Raster Downscaling tool allows downscaling by means of a technique called Downscaling. In QGIS (it can also be run directly in SAGA) it is located at:
Toolbox > SAGA > Spatial and Geostatistics – Regression
As Predictors, select the digital elevation model (DEM, 30×30), and in Dependent Variable use the temperature raster (1000×1000, obtained from WorldClim).
Only apply this technique if there is a high correlation between the variables (in precipitation it usually does not work). You can also see the videotutorial in this link (Spanish).
I love this downscaling technique because I am trying to introduce Downscaling Tropical Cyclone Products in raster formats using GIS&RS tools and techniques into more communicable meteorological forecast outlooks for disaster risk reduction purposes!

Increasing the resolution means upscaling not downscaling. Which one is correct?
